![]() ![]() If you don’t care about that “pro motion” feature, I would just get an 11, or an SE if you can tolerate a smaller screen. The only reason I upgraded to a 13 Pro is the high refresh rate display, which I find to be very pleasing, but many do not even notice. The Apple website shows 11 through 13.I realize there is such a thing as personal preference, YMMV and all that.but I am due for an upgrade of my iPhone - currently using a 6S Plus. 5 years from now Apple will probably revert back to a “groundbreaking” curved design. Recently upgraded to an iPhone 13 and I must say I miss the curved edges of the 6-11 models. The 6S was a great generation, no doubt, but the idea that it's better than phones 5-6 years newer is hard to defend. Used without a case, I found the newer squared-off design much more secure in the hand, making the phone far less likely to fall. These midsize phones have about the same screen area as the earlier Plus phones - a bit taller but narrower.Īs for the feel - pretty much everybody uses a case, and then the phone doesn't dig into the hand. Both the 12 and 13 are significantly lighter than the 6S Plus (5.78/6.14 oz vs 6.77), and much lighter than the 8 Plus you recommended (7.13 oz). "They're all too heavy and thick"? The 12 is the same thickness as the 6S Plus, the 13 is a hair thicker (0.29 vs 0.30 inch). I suspect the 6S Plus is still usable.Īgree that the 6S was probably the high water mark for iphone design. On a financial note, I have saved a lot of money by sticking with phones until they're absolutely unusable. No way in Hades would I buy one of these heavy bricks they're calling Pro Max these days. I've always thought the phone was too heavy to carry comfortably, but I've dealt with it. Replace the battery and you're good to go. The mini would not, therefore, be a suitable replacement.įor me personally, the camera is meaningless. My assumption is that someone who is using a 6S Plus appreciates the phone for its size, particularly the relative ease with which one can read on it, thanks to its aspect ratio. The screen and camera are better, far more memory, 5G, far superior battery life, etc. If you compare the 6S Plus to the 13 mini, the 13 mini is actually a smaller and about 20% lighter. And I doubt you will appreciate the stupid, ugly notch that all of these newer phones have. They're faster, yes, but you will miss the aspect ratio of your Plus (better for reading). None of these phones, IMO, is better than your 6S Plus. Those are the fattest and heaviest and most expensive. The only newer phones that approximate the comfortable aspect ratio for reading of your current phone is the Pro Max models. Note that even it, too, is a bit heavier than your 6 Plus, but it's a lot lighter than the newer, ridiculously heavy models. If you want faster, surf on over to the Apple store and pick up a refurbished 8 Plus. ![]() The latest ones with square edges are also darn uncomfortable to hold. You may also miss the home button, especially when wearing a face mask. That said, can anyone comment on why I should pay for a more expensive 13 rather than the 12, 11, etc.? ![]()
